This year's World Water Day, celebrated annually on 22 March, provides a moment for the citizens of our planet to focus collective attention on a life-giving yet increasingly limited resource that is so frequently taken for granted. "Nature for Water" is the global theme for World Water Day 2018 and the focus of this year's edition of the World Water Development Report produced by the United Nations. This theme highlights the potential of nature-based approaches to contribute to tackling a range of water-related challenges, including water shortage, poor water quality and vulnerability to extreme events like floods and droughts.
